News from the parents

Noah is sound a sleep and so we are secretly on his webpage to say a few words to you all !!

Life is going smoothly and we are gradually feeling more and more at ease. There are so many things to see, to understand and to incubate, making this journey probably one never to forget.
The weekend passed by again so fast, like the ones before, but it becomes "easier" now we are able to find our way in the...euh...2 km circle surroundings of our serviced residence..;-)

While walking down the streets, we see that (small) trees are being anchored in the ground with steel cables. The taller ones, being tied together with bamboo... Rather strange we think, it must be to keep the trees in an up-right position...and there it hits us. Of course, this is for precaution...because they know that the typhoon season will soon arrive! Not something we've seen or experienced in Europe before and so we will take extra good care (dear grandparents), don't worry!

This evening we settled down for dinner in one of the "food courts", and sat in between a hundred locals.
It's pleasant, you just sit down at a table where other people are sitting at, and you eat your meal. So basically it's as if you're having a meal together. Couldn't imagine in Belgium, that you would 'share' a table with complete strangers...but here...it's good!
The food was initially not our favorite taste, but you get familar with the various flavours and dishes. In fact... it tasted not so bad, even Noah will eat sticky rice now.

We hope to have more news from the relocation company, where abouts our (sea)freight is and if it will arrive around the 4th of July. Yep, we will be "independant" as from that day on ;-)
No more roomservice or laundry pick-up. Back to our own habits, cooking again...and so on.
But believe us, we are looking very forward to having our own place, where we can invite people, where Noah has all the space and when finally are 2 cats will be able to join us! About time!

Best wishes,
Maria & Christophe

The ten month olds !

Hey Cuy, Luke, Nate, Kyle (hope I spelt this right) and other kids I've met today!

It was very nice meeting you all and I'm hoping to see you soon again.
Perhaps we can join you on a Monday afternoon for a swim, that would be great.
My mum and dad haven't taken me for a swim in ages..! The last time was in March when we were on holidays. I'm sure though, that they will make it up to me (mum has nothing on her hands anyway.. :-) )

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hallo Oma,
Hier ben ik weer! Om je te laten weten dat ik een hele leuke dag heb gehad met de andere kindjes.
Cuy en zijn mama komen van Australia, Brisbane. Trouwens daar woont ook Matthew! En Cuy's papa van Amerika.
Mama heeft van hen foto's gemaakt, tof he. Ik denk dat ik nog veel van Cuy ga zien, want mama vindt zijn moeder ook heel aardig!
Luke en Kyle zijn hier geboren. Luke's mama komt van Engeland en zijn papa van Sri Lanka en Kyle's mama van New Zeeland en zijn papa van Taiwan...
Oma, mama denkt ook veel aan jou en ze hoopt dat je heel binnenkort naar ons toe zult komen. Je zult dan zien oma, dat je je echt geen zorgen hoeft te maken en als je dan 3 weekjes of langer bij ons bent, dan kunnen wij nog veel, heel veel samen spelen. Wie weet, misschien loop ik dan al (ik zal mijn best doen voor je ok) en dan kunnen we samen langs het strand wandelen en andere leuke dingen doen!
Een dikke kus X
New Friends
A small step for mankind, but an enormous step for me...I'm now really crawling on my hands and knies.
I know, I know, only backwards...but give me a break ok, it's not that easy.
Tomorrow mum's taking me to Playspace. This should be fun. Maybe the other kids can teach me how to crawl forward!
Mum was on the phone this morning talking to a lady called Tracey. She has a son called luke and he is only 3 days younger than I am.
And then there's Cuy. He was born on 26 August, 2 days prior to me! His mother is called Leonie.
Nate is another 10-month old and his mother is called Carolyn.
The 4th mother, Katrina, we will also meet, but I'm not sure if she has a boy or a girl (or both!). Of course I will find out tomorrow.
Now it's time for my bath!
...splash...
My adventures
___________________
That was real fun yesterday. Mum and dad decided to hit the beach, so I'm strapped in the back of the car hoping within an hour to smell the ocean...but oh noooo, we got lost. Mum was reading the map of course! After an enormous detour, we finally arrived at the seaside near Fulung. I'm not complaining though, because the 3 hour drive was very fun. We drove through the jungle, that's how it looked to me...and reached at a certain moment the highest peak (about 1000 meters). A beautiful view, butterflies in all kinds of shapes and colors everywhere and clear & clean water running in small streams down the mountains.
However, after so many hours in the car, I thought it was time for a snack. Easy, I just have to yell and I'm being surved! Hmmm, cookies and apple-juice... And here we are, finally at the beach, hoping to see other kids building sandcastles or just running about. Nada, nope, nothing...I think childeren here don't like having sand between their toes (mum never used to like that either, she always sat safely on her blanket). After a while I did bump into other kids. They were having lots of fun with friends and family in the pool. Now I was hoping to get at least my but wet and guess what, dad did not pack my swimming-trunks. Sorry to blaim this on you dad, but I did hear mum asking you to pack them...
On our way back to Taipei I fell sound a sleep. This was indeed a nice and new experience for me!
